Reed’s women in technology community
As advocates for women in technology, in June 2019 Reed set up its free ‘Women in Technology Mentoring Programme’ to help encourage more women into tech roles.
Kevin Dainty, Client Relationship Manager at Reed – the thought leader behind the programme – identified that women needed more guidance and encouragement from others to help propel their careers in the sector. With access to thousands of tech companies and hundreds of women already in technology roles, Kevin set about inviting them onto the programme to form the support network and community as we know it today.
Reed has extensive experience advising organisations on how to be more inclusive and helping them attract and appoint a diverse pool of people to their technology roles. Since the start of the programme, we have created over 1000 mentoring relationships and supported over 2000 members.
How does the scheme work? Through Reed’s programme, women at any stage of their technology career can connect with an external mentor offering tailored guidance and support, helping mentees to realise their potential and achieve their personal and professional goals. Guider is the tech platform used to run the programme which guides users through their mentoring relationships; tracking progress, goals, and feedback. With integrated video chat, calendar scheduling and email messaging, Guider also streamlines the communication process between mentors and mentees, allowing them to focus on getting the most out of their relationship.
